Leave it to Leo the robot to check you in

At the Geneva Airport, there is a very unique employee that will turn some heads. His name is Leo and he is the beloved airport robot. Made by Swiss airport technology specialist, SITA in partnership with robotics firm BlueBotics, Leo is an ingenious solution to improve the travel experience in the airport industry. Once the traveller touches Leo’s screen, the autonomous machine scans the boarding pass, then the cargo bay will automatically open and the passenger is free to put their bags into the compartment after attaching the printed luggage tags. Once that’s done, Leo will close the cargo bay and scatter off to the loading station. If Leo proves to aid in reducing the congestion in airports, SITA plans to build a Leo army for more airports in the future. Watch out because you may see a Leo in an airport near you.

Stoli campaign releases men from societal stigmas

Sometimes a man just wants a fruity cocktail. Whether it be the taste, or the little decorative umbrella, a man should be able to drink an aesthetically pleasing concoction without judgement. Stoli’s latest campaign has created a movement to reinvigorate the taste buds for millions of men restricted to drinking beers and whiskey, when what they really wanted was a Shirley Temple with extra cherries. The “Drink What You Want” campaign includes a larger anthem spot and three shorter videos which focus on individual products, featuring three different cocktails made with different Stoli flavours. Twitter allows for emoji targeting

Earlier this week, Twitter announced emoji targeting. This new targeting option was released to aid in improving their precise targeting capabilities to help drive deep engagement and better performance for brands. According to Twitter, more than 110 billion emojis have been tweeted since 2014, and can be an indicator of a person’s mood or mindset. Therefore, Twitter believes with the introduction of emoji targeting it will unlock unique opportunities for advertisers and brands. The feature is available to all advertisers through Twitter’s select Ads API partners, which include AdParlorAmobee, HYFN, Perion, SocialCode, and 4C. Will advertisers cry with laughter or happiness with this announcement? Only time will tell.

Dance to your own tune

A new software has been released by Point Motion that will create sound based on your body movements. The software is housed in a mini pyramid like device that can be placed on any bench or flat surface to interpret your movements and produce the tunes. This software can also be purchased to use on a regular laptop that has an inbuilt webcam. If you opt for the pyramid you’ll be able to choose whether you’d like it play the orchestra like sound directly through the device or if you’d like it to be uploaded to professional software via MIDI information for later tweaking.

Volkswagen takes home Gold Lion

Volkswagen, the heavy weight automobile innovators, has taken home a Gold Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in the Promo and Activation category for never looking back. One of their latest game changers in the car world, The Reversed Trailer, turns a few heads but apparently never the driver’s. This clever piece of tech allows a driver towing a trailer to use assisted sensors to help reverse the trailer in place without a hitch (or a ding).

Apple Pay keeps the cash flowing

While most Australian banks are still a little behind the eight ball of getting on board with Apple Pay, the operating system is now giving users quicker access to their cash in the US. The payment system that allows Apple device users to pay for their purchases using only their phone, has now teamed up with America’s second large bank, Bank America, to allow them to withdraw funds directly from the ATM using the app. We’ll have to wait and see which Australian bank makes the first scramble to get on board with this emerging tech.
