Kanye West almost broke the internet

Technology met fashion and music at Friday’s Yeezy Season 3 NYFW show, where loveable larrikin Kanye West debuted his latest Adidas collection and new album The Life of Pablo. In what would possibly be the biggest Fashion Week crowd ever, over 20 million people watched the show live through streaming service Tidal. That’s right, 20 million – the mass number of people watching live caused the service to slow and almost broke Tidal’s server. Love him or hate him, the dude knows how to draw a crowd. You can watch a replay of the show here.

App of the week

GE powers up a new app

General Electric’s Ecomagination has helped create Poncho, an app encouraging energy conservation and clean energy based on local weather patterns. Use the app and expect a daily email and customised push notifications featuring the day’s weather, pollen level, public transit status, and a predictor of whether your hair will be frizzy that day. Fed to you with custom subject lines, emojis and GIFs – it’s cute, clever, fun and more importantly, useful.

Spend the night in Van Gogh’s bedroom

You can rent all kinds of places on Airbnb, from treehouses to a bed in the Paris catacombs. Now, thanks to The Art Institute of Chicago, art lovers can book a night in a real-life replica of Van Gogh’s bedroom. Up for offer is a livable, 3D replica of his “Bedroom in Arles” painting, setting you back $10 a night. Don’t fret, though – you’re not quite immersing yourself in 19th-century Arles – the 21st-century version of the bedroom boasts TV, air conditioning and Wi-Fi (phew).

Adidas has the perfect response to homophobes

To celebrate Valentine’s Day on Sunday, Adidas posted the above photo of a female couple in an embrace – the image amassed over 200k likes and 120k comments, some of them (sadly) were homophobic in nature. To the applause of the majority of humanity, the social team behind the post were quick to respond to these comments in a perfectly sassy fashion (waving-hand emoji and all), causing the post to explode even further on newsfeeds everywhere. On ya, Adidas.
