How to stream live music while saving the planet

Earth Hour’s Dark Tickets campaign recently launched in Costa Rica, giving the planet 412,500 minutes of lights-off time. Drawing on a pool of famous ambassadors in music; exclusive access to streamed concerts was made available online, on the condition that viewers watched in the dark. Viewers were asked to first turn on their smartphone/iPad camera to activate technology measuring light intensity around the device. Check it out:

Rolling Stone aligns its hard-hitting journalism with Steve Jobs’ questioning spirit in this Argentinean ad. The creative result is a mobilised Cult of Mac which takes up the call to “question everything”, with black skivvies, blue jeans, wire-rim specs and a series of seemingly mundane but eventually profound ponderings. With any luck, watching this peculiar clip will prompt one question in particular amongst the public: How do I get a subscription to Rolling Stone?

This display blurred the lines between digital and real life

Showing just how accustomed we’ve become to innovative technology, American airline JetBlue surprised New Yorkers with an unexpectedly low-tech window display. Featuring a huge, fully-functional touchscreen to find out more about JetBlue services (okay, so that part’s hi-tech), an airline stewardess helped guide them through the information. When the avatar started commenting on outfits and challenging people to stunts, they were somewhat thrown by how realistic she was. Most got into the spirit of things and were rewarded when the actual human stewardess steps out of the display with free flight vouchers.

While Doctor Google is never the best idea, diagnostic smartphone attachments are increasingly leveraging the power of smartphones to lower the cost and widen the scope of healthcare. MoleScope is one such app making it easier for people to check in with the doctor. FDA registered and CE certified, MoleScope helps check for melanoma by scanning your moles and sending the photo to a medical practitioner. For those afraid of visits to the doctor, MoleScope may be a good option; the only sore point is the price: $99-$199.

Why is Heineken locking your door?

Is there no end to Heineken’s innovation? As a longstanding sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, Heineken launched this promotion to encourage Brazilians to bring the right beer to any UEFA parties last weekend. Once affixed to your front door, the Door Lock essentially acts as a barcode reader – for which no amount of Open Sesame will do unless you’ve a Heineken in hand. Five Door Locks were up for grabs through an online competition.
