Meet the unbelievable book that self-destructs after just 24 hours

Given the world’s current fascination with destructible media, it was inevitable that other industries would eventually jump on board. Bestselling author James Patterson has led the charge in the publishing industry with his latest novel, Private Vegas. Over several days, Patterson has released 1000 digital copies of the novel that come attached with a 24-hour timer that will cause the book to vanish once time has expired. The idea is to cause readers to feel immersed in the thrill of the story – in addition to cleverly encouraging customers to feel a part of a unique experience. Better yet, Patterson has released one physical copy that self-destructs for one lucky reader. Let’s hope they’re not in public when it goes off!

If you’ve ever watched televised professional sport, you’ll know that on-field antics can often be unintentionally hilarious. Taking that idea and running with it, the Bad Lip Reading Youtube channel created a bad lip reading of a montage of the NFL. We’re not sure if the reason the video’s so hilarious is because of how ridiculous the content is, or just simply because it’s completely believable. Take a look below and see what you think:

With the advent of Google Glass and its inevitable failing as almost completely unwearable ‘wearable tech’, people have been asking – what next? It seems Microsoft’s stepped up to the mark with its latest offering, Microsoft HoloLens. The technology’s capabilities are boasted in Microsoft’s promotional teaser, including 3D holographic modelling, interacting in person with others through video and virtual television screens that can play online media. In previous years, music was a highly social experience, mobilising people to gather for concerts, listen to the radio together and hang out. These days, it’s largely a solitary pleasure. Boomio wants to change all that with its new app – a music-sharing community that allows users to send music to their friends. Just like Instagram or Facebook, users can add comments or like posts. The catch? Boomio incentivises people to spread music by either purchasing a track, or alternatively, receiving a free listen to it by sharing it with a friend. Indie artists everywhere rejoice!
