111.5 million viewers watched the game – setting a record for total viewers and producing the second-highest household rating on record at 46.4
115.3 million viewers watched the half time show – breaking the record for the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show ever
24.9 million tweets were generated during the live telecast, narrowly beating last year’s record of 24.1 million tweets
The biggest Super Bowl-related peak on Twitter, measured in tweets per minute (TPM), was Percy Harvin’s 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter, with 381,605 TPM
The moment peaked on Facebook too, which recorded a total of 185 million interactions from 50 million people
The most watched and talked about part of the game are the commercials that air between the play. The most watched commercials on Youtube were Budweiser’s Puppy Love (close to 40 million views), Duracell’s Trust Your Power came in second (over 17 million views) and Hyundai’s Nice ad came in third (over 13 million views). At more than US $4 million for a 30-second spot, companies pulled out all the stops to make sure their ad was the one that everyone was talking about after the game.
