Hooking Up With A Girl Called Amy

by Steve Mair on 17 March 2015

The prestigious AIMIA Awards are the night of nights for the Australian digital industry, recognising the best content, services and applications from across the country. On Thursday last week ‘The Amys’ turned 21. In true 21st style, it was a lavish event held at Sydney Town Hall, an exclusive guest list, with tuxes and designer frocks a plenty and enough alcohol to sink multiple battleships (or just the Friday productivity of many agencies). Luckily for BCM, we were invited, thanks to some great work we partnered with Queensland University of Technology for their Open Day event.

Just like the 21st parties from my distant past, some went home empty handed and drunk, while others found themselves hooking up with one of a number of girls called Amy! Fortunately for us, we were one of the latter.

The QUT ‘Plan Your Open Day’ Experience took out top honours in the Best Smartphone or Tablet Application – Learning & Education category, beating out some tough competition from the likes of the ABC. The QUT web app was also a finalist in the Most Innovative Digital Product or Service, up against the likes of Rip Curl’s Surf Search GPS.

Check out what it was all about here.

All in all it was a hugely successful night for ourselves and our client QUT. Add to this our success from last year (in the last two years at AIMIA, we’ve had no less than 11 finalists and 3 wins), we are one of the most highly awarded agencies at this prestigious digital awards show.

Congrats again to all the BCMers that worked on the project and, of course, thanks to QUT for going on the ride with us.

Here’s to next year.
